Have a Small Space? Make it a Beautiful One!

I love this bedroom! It is a wonderful way to turn a small space into a gorgeous bedroom. This bedroom has nice warmth, great use of a neutral colors scheme and breathtaking use of space. This space represents many Elements and Principles of Design to create such a beautiful space. This room emphasizes the slanted walls by the placement of the bed and using this space to the best of its ability, creating a larger feel. The space has a harmonious color palette of creams and chocolate brown which create a relaxing bedroom. This bedroom is also balanced very nicely which works well since all the walls are not balanced in size. I would Love to live in this space!

Emphasis
This bedroom is wonderful use of a small space. The use of the smaller wall to position the bed on places the emphasis on the bed which is the most important part of a bedroom.  The placement of the furniture creates the illusion of a larger space. It also places emphasis on the architectural elements of the space, such as the window and the slanted wall. This plays up the architectural elements instead of hiding them.
Balance
This bedroom is balanced beautify with many elements of the space. The closet door on the left wall is balanced by the art work on the opposite wall. The lamps are repeated on either side of the bed to balance each other and the light emphasizes the slants of the back wall. Each pillow on the bed is balanced by the same pillow right next to it. The items placed at the end of the bench although not the same still balance each other well, and create a sense of balance feel on the bench.
Harmony
The relaxing feel of this bedroom is formed by a very soothing and visually appealing color pallet that was used in this space. These creamy colors create the perfect harmonious environment for sleeping and relaxing. The chocolate brown complements the cream excellently to form a very calm and pleasing color palette.

This amazing bedroom is an overall great example of the Principles and Elements of Design. The space has a very simple yet luxurious feel to it, which is created by using these Principles and Elements of Design.

  1. I think you are right in saying this space is successful because of its use of the principles and elements of design. I agree that the placement of furniture emphasizes the architectural elements of the space, which adds interest to the room. And the symmetrical balance of the items in the room creates a sense of stability and harmony, always good feelings to invoke in a bedroom. The warm color palate ties it all together and creates a relaxing, successful bedroom out of the small space.
